Strong Showers
Many visitors, particularly from theUK, are surprised at the power and temperature of Australian showers. They really blast the cobwebs out of your head. To avoid scalding turn on the cold first and when you finish turn off the hot first.
Sun Burns
Make a habit of liberally applying sunscreen every few hours when out in the Australian sun(SPF 30 to make sure). It is often easiest to do this just after your morning shower, when you don't have to worry about getting the cream on your clothes.
Buy a good hat, a baseball cap at the minimum and also get a decent pair of sunglasses. They not only look cool, they are essential, particularly when driving.
