The Manning Valley is named after the river which flows through the lush area which extends 40 miles up the coast from Halidays Point to Diamond Head and then inland 30 miles to the mountainous Great Dividing Range.

Taree is at the areas centre as well as being its largest town.

A must see are the Ellenborough Falls which can be accessed from a walkway which winds down to their foot. Then Gaze up at the highest single drop falls in the Southern Hemisphere.

Australia's Only River Delta

Houseboats can be hired for 'cruising' holidays in the Manning Valley and its extensive river system.

The Manning River is Australia’s only river delta system with entrances at both Harrington and Old Bar.

There is over 150km of navigable river in this extensive network so all varieties of water sports can be pursued from boating to fishing.

If you like fresh seafood then the Catch a Crab Cruise on the Manning River is for you. Mud crabs live in the estuary mud flats and are a popular local delicacy.

The Ellenborough Falls

The spectacular 160 metre high Ellenborough Falls cascade from the Bulga plateau into a cavernous gorge below and it is said to be the highest single drop waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere.

There are several viewing platforms. One is near the top and a track leads to another looking back towards the falls.

You can view Ellenborough Falls from its base but the walking track down from the top is quite arduous.

The Falls are accessible via unsealed roads from either Bobin, Comboyne or Killabakh.
