Broken Bay is in the most northerly of the Sydney Map sections and separates the Greater Sydney area from the Central Coast to the north. Several bridges cross the bay at Brooklyn and house boast can be hired to explore the fingers, bays and creeks of the Hawkesbury River System. Dangar Island is habituated and can be reached by boat from the mainland.
West Head can be seen near the centre of the map and is a popular lookout with spectacular views over Broken Bay to the Central Coast, Palm Beach and Lion Island. The lookout has good informational facilities including a map and is a popular place for Sydney weddings. West Head is accessed via The Ku Ring Gai Chase National Park.
Palm Beach to the north east of the map, is another enviable Sydney location. This long and secluded beach, with Barren Joey at its end, is also the setting for the Australia soap opera 'Home and Away'. There are restaurants and also a gold course near Palm Beach and regular buses to central Sydney operate here.
Over Broken Bay from Sydney is The Central Coast. This rapidly growing area is a popular residential area. Many people commute to Sydney via the railway or F3 Free Way (which is part of the Pacific Highway)/p>
The Northern Boundary Sydney Map is linked to a total of 16 maps covering the Greater Sydney area which extends from Pittwater in the North through to the base of The Blue Mountains in the west and south to The Royal National Park.
