Broadbeach is a stylish Gold Coast suburb which perfectly compliments and contrasts the adjacent loud and brash Surfers Paradise ,just a few Km to its north.
Broadbeach is still fronted by that magnificent uninterrupted stretch of golden sand, there are also impressive apartment buildings and high rise towers similar to those found in Surfers.
Broadbeach is generally regarded as the more laid back and stylish, has one of the biggest shopping malls in the southern hemisphere, the famous Jupiters Casino and scores of well regarded restaurants and cafes.
Cafes and Restaurants
Broadbeach has a deserved reputation for its restaurants and cafes and offers a good choice ranging from simple fish and chips through to Indian, Italian, Mexican, French, Modern Australian as well as several gelato bars and trendy coffee bars.
An almost continuous 'U' shaped stretch of alfresco restaurants and cafes runs up Albert Avenue, along the precinct beside Surfers Parade which forms the frontage of The Phoenician Resort and down the pedestrianised precinct of Broadbeach Mall.
We found that Sopranos in the Phoenician Resort precinct served good food with attentive but not overbearing service.
Sage Café Restaurant is also worth a visit. It has award winning Chefs and a team of very friendly and professional staff who always aim to exceed their guest’s expectations.
Monorail to Jupiters Casino
Broadbeach has a monorail which runs in a circuit between Broadbeach Mall and the famous Jupiters Casino.
It only costs a few dollars to ride the monorail and it provides for some unique views of Broadbeach, the new convention centre and the impressive casino which is illuminated with a pulsating light display at night.
Even if you are not an avid gambler the Casino is an interesting attraction and includes a hotel, several restaurants, a theatre as well as several floors of the expected 'gaming' paraphernalia.
Broadbeach is the location for Pacific Fair which is one of the largest shopping malls in Australia.
You will find all the usual shops as well as some unique stores such as the hat shop which stocks just about every type of head attire you could care to think of.
There is also an outdoor food court so you can take a break from shopping and eat whilst enjoying the sunshine.
Walk To Surfers Paradise
Broadbeach is the next suburb down from Surfers Paradise. The walk either along the beach or the beachside promenade and then partly though the streets can take around 40 minutes to an hour depending on how long you spend gazing at the towers or toying with the surf.
Walking along the beach in the other direction will take you to Mermaid Beach, Nobby Beach, Miami and eventually to the rocky outcrop which has a footpath leading to North Burleigh.
The walk from Broadbeach to North Burleigh will take a good hour in each direction. Broadbeach is a perfect location to stay to enjoy the best of the Gold Coast.
The bustling Surfers Paradise with its bars, theme restaurants, bungy jumps, amazing shopping arcades, and clubs is within easy reach yet great dining, shopping and if it tempts you, the casino is on your door step.
Nestled between Jupiters Casino and Pacific Fair is the award winning Draculas cabaret restaurant. If you are looking for a fun night out, very professionally produced robust entertainment (which includes music and comedy) and good food served by waiters and waitresses attired in ghoulish costumes (with names like Dolly Death !) and who aren't afraid to answer their customers back, then this is a must. This will not be a quiet, romantic night out and customers sit on long group tables which only enhances the atmosphere. Do book in advance though as Draculas reputation draws customers from all over the Gold Coast and even further a field to Brisbane.
