Narrabeen is one of the
longer of the Northern Beaches and popular with walkers and joggers as it
is a good hours to walk from end to end. The beach is also a popular competition
surfing venue because of the usually good conditions. A unique feature to
Narrabeen is its large inland lagoon which is popular for windsurfing, canoeing
and small sailing craft etc. There is also an Australian Institute of Sport
campus located further inland, on the shores of the lagoon. There is a small
stretch of shops, restaurants and cafes lining Pittwater Road. When taking
to the sea always swim between the yellow and red flags erected by the surf
patrols and be aware and respectful of any potential rip tidal areas. Talk
to the Surf Patrols and they will be happy to explain the local sea conditions
