About Mildura & Ouyen, Victoria

VICTORIA MAP ABOUT HOTELS CAMPING RESTAURANTS

Mildura is close to the NSW border and so by default the Murray River which forms the state boundary up until Albury-Wodonga at which point it heads south to Mount Beauty. A trip on the Mighty Murray is a popular choice for a holiday in its own right . If you alight at Mildura it is possible to indulge in short jaunts lasting a few hours up to full week long cruises taking in hundreds of miles of the river as it carves its way between NSW and Victoria. Mildura is famed for its citrus cultivation and of course its wineries. Infact some of Australia's biggest and also most well known wineries are based here because of the excellent conditions for grape cultivation. That is not to say this is a lush area. Irrigation schemes have benefited Mildura's agriculture considerably since this is naturally quite an arid region. Sixty miles south along the Calder and at the junction with the Mallee Highway is Ouyen. The town is surrounded by national parks, namely The Hattah-Kulkyne, The Murray Sunset and The Wyperfield which is located in The Big Dessert area.
