Shoalhaven is unashamedly a place of Beaches, Bush and Beauty. One hundred miles south of Sydney the area stretches from Berry to Durras North and stems westwards with over 300,000 hectares of National Parks and State Forests. Pigeon House Mountain, named by Captain Cook in the 1770's, the Two Rivers Walk (60 miles), and Wilderness areas taking in the Yarramunmum Gorge are musts for keen hikers. A walk into the bush or Hinterland will give an insight into this unique terrain. On the coast here you will find the beach with the whitest sands in the world, Hymas Beach. Infact this area offers over 100 beaches all with their own unique quality. Jervis Bay, renowned for it clean and clear waters, offers a wide range of water sports, including sailboarding, cruising, swimming, fishing snorkeling and scuba diving. Dolphin watch cruises are a favorite as these magnificent animals can be viewed in the wild, surrounded by the beauty of Jervis Bay. Further south are beaches with a difference, as they are shadowed by Murramarang National Park, and on Pebbly beach the kangaroos will venture out from the greenery onto the sands.
