About The Great Ocean Road, Victoria

VICTORIA MAP ABOUT HOTELS CAMPING RESTAURANTS

The Great Ocean Road is one of the wonders of the State of Victoria, 160 miles of breath taking scenery and without doubt one of Australia's most scenic coastal roads. The road was built as a memorial to the servicemen of World War I and caresses the cliff tops of this rugged coastline. The road starts at Torquay its route flanked with deserted beaches, small towns and dramatic scenery. There are many stops along the way, one of them being Lorne one of Victoria most attractive small towns. Applo bay is another worthy coastal stop. At this point the road winds inwards through the greenery of Otway National Park. This is rainforest country and the sounds of silence. The road rejoins the road called Shipwreck Coast at Prince town just before Port Campbell and its famous rock formations - The Twelve Apostles. These huge stone pillars stand majestically in the ocean, individually carved by the seas and winds, and take the ovation of the photographers' camera. The Great Coastal Road sadly ends at Port Fairy as it takes a twisted winding journey of discovery
