Although Coogee is not
as famous as its neighbour, it is still a popular and vibrant resort with
a fine beach nestling in a pleasant bay. The beach is popular with sun bathers,
volley ball payers, surfers and swimmers. The bayside is lined with many
hotels, bars, cafes and restaurants from which you can watch the world go
by. There are good walks along the promenade, over the heads to Bront Beach
and eventually to Bondi. Coogee lends its name to a knitwear company, known
for its exuberant and colourful designs. Since Central Sydney is only 30
or so minutes away any of the beaches in the 'Eastern Suburbs' make excellent
bases for your visit. When taking to the sea always swim between the yellow
and red flags erected by the surf patrols and be aware and respectful of
any potential rip tidal areas. Talk to the Surf Patrols and they will be
happy to explain the local sea conditions.
