The Central Coast is a pleasant one hours drive north from Sydney on Freeway 1 or the Pacific Highway. The roads almost run parallel to each other, the Freeway being the newer and more direct route, designed to take the large volume of daily commuters. Alternatively it can be reached by the Ettalong ferry from Darling Harbour or by train. The Hawkesbury river divides Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and Brisbane Waters National Park. From the mouth of the river to further upstream, houseboats, tinnies and all sorts of boats are available for hire from different marinas. Old Sydney Town is a recreation of Sydney 200 years ago, budding actors reconstruct how life was in the past, and a Magistrate shows no mercy to the convicts. If youre interested in snakes then Australian Reptile Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is worth a visit. Gosford is the areas largest town, however, most of the smaller communities of Woy Woy, Avoca, The Entrance and Terrigal are by the sea. The beaches of the central coast have their own special unique qualities and the waterways and Lakes of Tuggerah are ideal for fishing.
