Casino is situated by the Richmond River and is the centre for the regional beef production. The town has many parks and picnic spots whereas the river offers fishing. Casino is a good example of an Australian country town.

Tenterfield has the hills of the Great Dividing Range as a backdrop and is famous for its colourfully vivid autumn leaf displays. It is also close to wineries and the Boonoo Boonoo, which has waterfalls of note, and Washpool National Parks. Forty miles to the west is the Glenlyon Dam which offers fishing and camping. There are a number of historical buildings to visit including the Courthouse, Railway Station, Saddler and Stannum House. There is a good selection of accommodation in the region.

Both towns are on the northern border of New England which offers relaxing scenic drives and plenty of delightful towns to explore.
