The small but lively town of Fitzroy Crossing is located at the crossing point of the Great Northern Highway and The Fitzroy River. The town, between Broome and Halls Creek and bordering the Kimberleys predominantly supports local Aboriginal communities as well as the growing tourist industry. The unique Geike Gorge National Park in which flows the beautiful Fitzroy River, is located close to the town, and can be explored by organised boat or walking tour. As with most of the Kimberley region the wet season extends from January to April. Fitzroy Crossing is located 1600 miles north east of Perth and there is a limited amount of accommodation.
