Wyndham is 2000 miles north east of Perth, 300 miles west of Darwin at the end of the Great Northern Highway. The quiet town is situated in the Kimberley region on a tributary of the Cambridge Gulf. There is an abundance of history up here, both the relatively recent history of modern Australia and also reminders of far back, ancient times.
The town is known for its crocodiles, which can be seen wallowing menacingly in their natural surroundings. The five rivers junction is an impressive site near to the town. Kununurra is the regions most popular town for tourist accommodation and is also well placed for tourists to join tours to the Kimberleys and Bungle Bungles.
The wet season extends from January to April. Accommodation in the town is limited.
Perth, several thousand kilometres to the south of Wyndham is a popular international tourist destination and its west coast location makes it usually the first or last port of call in Australia. There is no shortage of hotels and tourist accommodation. A selection of Hotels in Perth is shown below. For a full list please visit our Perth Hotels page.
