This Thredbo accommodation is a pioneer as the original guest houses was built in 1958. However, over the years, there has been extensive re-development and re-furbishments resulting in a building triple the size but still retaining the warmth and charm of its predecessor.
With a reputation for warm European hospitality and comfortable accommodation, this lodge is undoubtedly one of Thredbo's legendary places to stay and visit. The owner, Hubert Engel, has been part of the Thredbo scene since 1974 and has owned the accommodation since 1978.
All rooms enjoy unsurpassed views of Thredbo and are serviced daily. For your comfort, every room has a TV and video, its own bathroom and all linen and towels are provided.
The accommodation offers the choice of single, double and family rooms. In winter, the accommodation includes a fabulous cooked breakfast to give you energy before venturing out onto the slopes. In summer a continental breakfast is provided.
Located in the heart of Thredbo behind the Thredbo Alpine Hotel, this accommodation is just a short stroll to the Thredbo Valley Terminal. For guests who are either too tired after a long day's skiing or just keeping their energy for the long day skiing, the courtesy shuttle bus stops directly outside the front door.
The accommodation's fully licensed restaurant and bar has been part of Thredbo folklore for several decades. Boasting the same unsurpassed views as your bedroom, the restaurant and bar features a cosy open fireplace, European beers, imported schnapps and a handpicked wine list, compiled by Hubert himself. For those sometimes important occasions, there is also a cable TV in the bar.
The a la carte restaurant features both Australian and international cuisine, however a favourite with patrons and a nightly speciality of the house, is the traditional Fondue.
One of the traditions of a stay at this Thredbo accommodation is to join all other patrons in the bar and balcony to watch the Thredbo ski school ski down the mountain in the weekly flare run before fireworks light up the mountain. This event occurs every Saturday night during the ski season at 6pm.
