Taroom Region Overview

Taroom is located on the Dawson River within the north ern Darling Downs region of South Eastern Queensland some 300 miles north west of Brisbane.

The Isa Gorge, Expedition and Precipice National Parks are within the area.

The town has much to see of historical appeal. Look out for the historic roadway and the Leichhardt Tree which has 'LL 44' carved within it - the initials of the regions first European explorer, Ludwig Leichhardt, who carved it in 1844. (the bark growth in the ensuing century has since obscured the carving)

Taroom Rodeo

Taroom is known for its high quality beef, grain and forestry cultivation and the Darling Downs is known as the food basket of South East Queensland.

Taroom is on the Australia Rodeo circuit and is known for producing exceptional rodeo riders.

Working Pioneer Village

In the region is an interesting attraction, an Historical Village which depicts a pioneer settlement as well as housing many other interesting and diverse collections.

The town is also renowned for its glorious spring flowers which are celebrated in festivals. There are also good walks in the region. .
