Swansea is located on the east coast of the island, 85 miles north east of Hobart. This cosy town is nestled on the beautiful Great Oyster Bay and overlooks The Freycinet National park and Southern Island which arc round to the east of this large bay. See map.
Swansea is a place of quaint stone cottages, many of which have been converted to bed and breakfasts or hotels. There is also an excellent winery here and to the north of the town 'Nine Mile Beach' forms a delicate promontory separating Moulting Lagoon from Great Oyster Bay.
There are many opportunities for walking, bird watching and fishing in the area. There is an excellent selection of fine accommodation here.
