St Marys is a small town 120 miles north east of Hobart and 50 miles east of Launceston. The town has several viewing spots, particularly at Elephant pass. The town is only 10 miles inland from the east coast of the island. There is a small selection of accommodation.
St Helens is 20 miles north of St Marys and is situated on the coast at Georges Bay. Fishing and its processing is the main industry here. Several operators operate sea or harbour fishing excursions and there is also excellent fishing at the nearby inland rivers. The area is known for its good beaches, scenery, bird watching and walking
