Central West Tasmania

Roseberry

Roseberry is around 50 km north west of Queenstown and 35 miles north of Strahan. The town is a predominantly a base for the nearby zinc mining operations. Tours of these mines provide an interesting and unique experience.

There are several rivers nearby which provide good trout fishing and guides are available if required. A 5 mile walking track leads via the small settlement of Williamsford to the 100 metre high Montezuma Falls. If you prefer, a 4WD tour is available.

Queenstown

Queenstown is a mining town, although today on a much smaller scale than in the past, located 30 miles south of Roseberry. The town, set in the stark and rugged mountainous surroundings, has many reminders and tours of the former and present copper mining operations. A chairlift ride provides excellent views of the town and surrounding countryside.
