
Shoalhaven Overview
Jervis Bay and the Shoalhaven region, is a place of beaches, bush and natural beauty.
Jervis Bay is a large protected bay 'pinched' between two curved promontories with its opening to the ocean between the Point Perpendicular and Governor Head. Jervis Bay Marine Park's sheltered bay is an ideal environment for dolphins, seals, sea eagles and penguins. Whales can be spotted between June and November on their migration to and from the Antarctic.
Shoalhaven
Shoalhaven is around one hundred miles south of Sydney. The area stretches from Berry to Durras North and stems westwards with over 300,000 hectares of National Parks and State Forests.
Pigeon House Mountain, named by Captain Cook in the 1770's, the Two Rivers Walk (60 miles), and Wilderness areas taking in the Yarramunmum Gorge are musts for keen hikers.
Whitest Sands In The World
On the coast of Jervis Bay you will find the beach with reputedly the whitest sands in the world, Hyams Beach.
In fact, this area offers over 100 beaches all with their own unique quality including Jervis Bay, Hyams Beach, Vincentia, Huskisson and Callala Beach. Jervis Bay, renowned for its clean and clear waters, offers a wide range of water sports, including sailboarding, cruising, swimming, fishing snorkelling and scuba diving.
A walk into the bush or hinterland will give an insight into this unique terrain.
