Eyre Peninsula Overview
The Eyre Peninsula is the region extending from the Nullarbor Plains in the west to the 'India' shaped promontory formed between the towns of Port Augusta, Port Lincoln and Ceduna.
The area is around 400 miles from Adelaide and is popular for fishing, its beaches, whale watching (one of the best places in Australia, between June and October) and as a staging post for those wishing to cross into Western Australia.
The west coast of the Eyre Peninsula can be explored by the Lincoln Highway. There are many towns and lookouts to stop at including Whyalla which offers tours of a working steel plant and Cowell which is famed for its opals and white sand. As a rule the Spencer Gulf offers excellent fishing.
