Derwent Bridge, a small western Tasmania town, is almost exactly the same distance (160Km)from both Hobart and Launceston. Located on the A10, Derwent Bridge is located between Lake St Clair - Cradle Mountain National park (only 5km away) and Lake King William, which flows into the River Derwent ,exiting to the sea at Hobart.
Derwent Bridge makes a good stop if you are staying or visiting Cradle Mountain or Lake St Clair. Both Lake St Clair and Lake King William offer excellent trout fishing and cruises operate on Lake St Clair. The relatively remote area has plenty of bushwalking and a small selection of accommodation.
The various Spirit Of Tasmania ships cross between mainland Australia (Melbourne and Sydney) and
Devonport, Tasmania. Please see the following links to book Melbourne to Devonport crossings:

Hobart has hotels in waterside and city locations. Click here for full list of Hobart accommodation. page.
