Northern Territory does not operate daylight saving and local time is 9.5 hours ahead of GMT The Wet and The DryDarwin, and the 'Top End' of the Northern Territory has a Wet and a Dry season, as the rainfall chart indicates. The rainfall brings spectacular waterfalls to life, wild flowers into bloom and some routes are made impassable. This contasts with the Dry season, where rain fall is non existant to just a few mm per month. Driving through the Australian Outback is not recommended for the inexperienced and un prepared.
