It is therefore an excellent place to stop if you wish to explore the Eyre Peninsula or prepare yourself for the long journey into Western Australia.
The Ceduna coast is a popular location for whale watching between June and October. It is not uncommon to see pods with scores of whales with their young en route to their breeding grounds.
A Myriad of Bays
However there is much to see in the immediate region with a myriad of bays, islands and white sandy beaches to investigate.
The town is ideally placed for whale watching (depending on the season) and in times gone by was home to a large whaling fleet.
Oysters
Ceduna is still a centre for commercial fishing but now the catch is more conventional.
Oysters are also cultivated here and form the focus of much of the towns tourism.
