Somewhere Special

From the moment you arrive at this truly unique Blue Mountains Accommodation, you know you're somewhere special. The lodge has been designed with the bush setting in mind, and it has the feel of a luxury tree-house. It is built by local Blue Mountains craftspeople, and is made of cypress logs and unique sawdust 'mud bricks'.

The cathedral ceiling of the main timber lounge, with its open loft and central whole tree-trunk, is just one of the many striking features. The natural building materials are complemented by top quality furnishings, also made of natural products, and by many hand-crafted features and artworks. The style is warm, comfortable and welcoming and the Blue Mountains setting is spectacular..

Luxury Accommodation

Accommodation at the lodge is in 8 double bedrooms (twin or king-size beds) each with ensuite facilities. All bedrooms open on to the surrounding timber decks, overlooking Blue Mountains scenary, or to the garden.

Bedrooms are centrally-heated, with comfortable natural beds, goose-down bedding and fresh linen, bathrobes, slippers, aromatherapy oil burners, hairdryers and toiletries. Ensuites have showers and there is a heated outdoor spa in the bush garden for a good wallow. One suite has disabled access and facilities and the entire lodge is no-smoking.

Relaxation is Ensured

Comfort, rest and relaxation are the priorities here, so the lounges are equipped with lots of books, magazines, music, board games and quiet corners for a good read or a chat with friends. There are no TVs or phones (except in the office).

Two therapy rooms are within the lodge so you can roll straight from a relaxing massage back to your room for a rest; and a meditation/quiet room is open all day. The outdoor hot spa is also available for guests all day (and at night if you wish).

Delicious Healthy Food

Judging by the number of requests for recipes the hosts receive, the food is one of the main attractions of the retreat. Fresh healthy food is obviously a key element of natural health - but don't take that for bland, dull or meagre. The menus are a combination of high quality fresh meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, home-made with good local produce, low fat, colourful, varied, plentiful and delicious. On offer are freshly-made fruit juices, teas, coffees, and spring-water 'on tap' and guests may BYO alcohol.

All meals are served informally around a huge hand-crafted red-gum dining table. Packed lunches are available if you prefer to go out for a bushwalk and take your lunch. Special diets can be catered for so wahtever your requiremnets you are to sure to eat well during your stay in the Blue Mountains.

Wallabies and Bush Swimming

Native Blue Mountains Wallabies consider the lawn around the accommodation lodge as their dining room - the surrounding bush is full of native birds, wildlife, flowers and mature trees. At night, the stars are a rich blanket and the night-life is furry or feathered rather than cosmopolitan.

The Retreat has a natural spring, a rock labyrinth and many walking tracks to explore. Historic railway tunnels cut through the cliffs and gorges around the property which add an interesting aspect to the other more natural features, such as rock pagodas, wind-eroded caves and cliff-top tracks. Twenty minutes walk from the Lodge is a remarkable dammed gorge, used originally as a water supply for the steam railway. Today it is a natural fresh-water bush swimming pool, winding around vertical rock walls and bushy banks for about a kilometre. The retreat is an ideal for exploring the Blue Moutains since you will be staying amidst them.
