Olympic Park is located at Homebush Bay, on the Parramatta River. Although this site was purpose built for the Olympic and Parlympic Games it was already the location for The Aquatic Centre and Bicentennial Park. The park provided an interesting respite for those wanting to escape the sport. The main stadium is an architectural triumph and has been designed with the convenience and control of vast numbers of people in mind. The first glimpse at the track and pitch area through the seating entrance tunnels will take ones breath away. The stadium at maximum capacity with over 100 000 people is an awe inspiring site. Crowd control and the sites infrastructure have been well tested during the past years as several large scale events have already been hosted here with flying colors. Olympic Park has several other stadia, show grounds, arenas and a new well designed and efficient train station. A very enjoyable and relaxing way to reach the site from Sydney is to take the River Cat from Circular Quay up the Parramatta River.  Tours still operate around the park and it is planned that the Olympic Torch will be on permanent display
