Palm Beach is the most northerly of Sydney's beaches and is famous by being the location of the famous Australian soap opera "Home and Away". The beach is relatively long and beach side development is minimal except for a few restaurants and a cafe at the southern end. Palm Beach is one of the most prestigious, and expensive, residential areas in Sydney with many impressive houses set high on the hill side. The beach is one side of a peninsula separating Pitt Water from the ocean. A marina is located on the Pitt Water side and "Barren Joey" with its light house is the outcrop at the end of the strip. There is a golf course which which non members can play. From Sydney, Palm Beach is reached by the twisting and turning Pitt Water Road which at points has views of both the Ocean and Pitt Water. Palm Beach is a good hours drive north of Sydney with many of the Northern Beaches to stop at on the way. A ferry service connects Palm Beach with The Central Coast, which is situated over 'The water'.
