The Ku Ring Gai National Park is a vast area which stretches from Narrabeen to Hornsby and north to the waters dividing the Greater Sydney Region from the Central Coast. The park has much to offer of natural beauty. Several small roads criss cross the area and there are many walking trails with varying grades of difficulty and length. Much of Pittwater and Hawkesbury River system is accessible from the park and there are some wonderful views of 'Lion Island' and the ocean from Westhead. House boats can be hired for a relaxing holiday messing about on the Hawbesbury at several points including Akuna Bay and Bobbin Head. Boats can also be hired further north at Brooklyn. Of note is the small settlement of Cottage Point which has a small shop, café and wonderful waterside restaurant from which you can watch sea planes land. An entrance fee is payable which helps maintain the park. There are several other National Parks in the vicinity and they are just one more element, which makes Sydney such a city such a great place to visit.
